Phantom of the Chinese Opera

So here I am, thinking I'm so smart for finding a possible connection between Avatar and Phantom of the Opera... and it turns out there's even a :iconphantom-avatar: whole club for it already!! *shrugs*

Haahaaha... anyway, I wanted to do for awhile now, Even posted about it in my journal back on September 8th. So please don't think I'm an unoriginal lump, cause I didn't even know that club exsisted until this week (despite that its been around since June)

But rather than the typical white-dressed Christine... I took it one step further and made it Phantom of the Chinese Opera, which the costumes influenced by Asian performance, the chinese opera, and japanese Kabuki and Noh. Of course, had I stuck with just Kabuki refrence, the part of Christine would be played by Sokka, not Katara. Poor Sokka.
I had fun researching the costumes.

So Anyway, Zuko is the Phantom, Katara is Christine, and Aang as Raul.

I'll color it, but it'll take me awhile, and I still have to finish Song and Meng.

Ooh... This is the first time I've seen the concept portrayed as a Chinese version of PotO and not just Avatar characters in PotO costumes. I like the half-a-blue-spirit mask.

Yeah, that's something I noticed about most of the stuff up there, so I'm glad I'd decided from the beginning to go with the asian costumes.

I even bought the Japanese version of the soundtrack so I can put the lyrics in the final colored version ^__^ (I'm a dork)

Oh, my god! This looks so awesome! I really love how Zuko's and Katara's right hands are intertwined. I keep staring at that. It's so graceful and beautiful. I can't wait to see the finished piece!

Amazing concept, poses, style, costumes.... pretty much everything! Aang's legs and staff seem a little curved, but it makes the piece more dynamic, I think and can hardly be called a fault. I also love that Zuko's mask is half of the Blue Spirit mask. Very nice touch. :D :worship:

I'm such a huge POTO and ATLA fan!!! You have made me so happy! :love:
Other than that, this is a amazing image, the poses are great! The only problem I have is with Aang's front leg I know it's the style, but it looks kinda painful. o.o

Wow, this is goreous. The costumes and the expressions are just amazing. And also, I love how Katara looks the most. It's just so... HOTT! =D
